b. The North Star
c. The Mystery
The answer is: a. Freedom’s Journal. Even though all three of these were part of the Black press, Freedom’s Journal was the first. It was cofounded by Samuel Cornish and John B. Russworm. The Mystery was later founded by Martin R. Delany before he helped Frederick Douglass launch what was to become the most well-known Black abolitionist newspaper of the day, the North Star.
